Greek Fishing Information
I love fishing so I had to look up how the greeks fished and learn more about it. Here are my questions I answered.
I love fishing so I wanted to know more about ancient greece fishing and how they did it. My first question is what did the Greeks boats look like for fishing? I found out that their boats were also known as the Trireme. The Trireme was a big warship with 3 banks of oars. They were made from cedar, hold up to 140 men, and doesn’t go very fast. Prone to getting waterlogged. Design was to look menacing to enemies. Next question is what did they use for poles? They used stone, bones, or sticks to make their fishing poles. Fishing poles were also called Gorges. Another question is what did they do with the fish after they caught them? I found out that they didn’t have any refrigeration systems at all, so all the fish that they caught they had to eat it before they spoiled. The fish they didn’t eat they took them to an agora to try selling them for money. Next is what fish did they even catch? They catch lots of species for example Anchovies, Sapts, Parrotfish, Tuna, Sea Bass, Red Mullet, and the greatest fish to get was an Eel.
